Magnetotherapy in Horse Recovery
Recovery is not an addition to training-it is an integral part of it. A horse’s body adapts to exercise not during work itself, but during the periods of rest between training sessions. If this process is not properly supported, micro-injuries and tension can accumulate in the tissues, which over time may lead to stiffness and reduced quality of movement.
Importantly, recovery is necessary not only for sport horses. Any horse that works regularly-including recreational horses-needs support after exercise.
What Happens to a Horse’s Body After Training?
After intensive exercise, several changes occur in a horse’s body, including:
- microtears in the muscles,
- accumulation of exercise-related metabolic by-products,
- strain on tendons and joints,
- tension in the back and shoulder area.
Proper recovery helps restore balance and prevents excessive strain from building up over time.
Magnetotherapy as a Recovery Aid
Magnetotherapy using a static magnetic field is a passive and non-invasive method. Magnetic boots do not generate heat or electrical impulses—the horse simply rests while the magnetic field supports the body’s natural recovery processes.
A static magnetic field:
- supports microcirculation,
- improves tissue oxygenation,
- supports the metabolism of stressed structures,
- helps reduce post-exercise stiffness.
It is not a form of treatment but rather a preventive aid to recovery, especially for horses engaged in regular physical work.
Static magnetic field therapy:
- does not create overstimulating effects,
- does not increase tissue temperature,
- does not require strict treatment schedules.
After a short adaptation period, it can be used for up to 8–12 hours a day, e.g., in a stall or during transport.
Recovery Is the Foundation of Performance
A horse that recovers properly moves more freely, returns to training readiness more quickly, and responds better to exercise. Magnetic therapy in equine recovery is a deliberate component of long-term efforts to promote the horse’s health and comfort.
